Walters Residence

Derek Walters is a young man with a Military Occupation working out of the Tobyhanna Army Depot with deployments abroad on a regular basis.

Derek resides in Holliday Pocono, Albrightsville. He contracted Home Solutions Partners to attach a two car garage to his log home on an elevated lot. In addition to the garage we also closed in his existing garage door and added a patio door for future renovations of the existing garage space. The project was a success and Derek was so pleased with Home Solutions Partners that it was just a matter of time before he called us back to complete the interior renovation of his unfinished ground floor and previous garage. Home Solutions Partners drew alternate layouts and pursued a design that would meet Derek’s needs. Upon reaching that decision Derek took off for Afghanistan and left his home in our hands.
Upon returning home he was quite impressed with the results.

Furnace, oil tank and plumbing were hidden behind two 4’ bi-fold doors providing access for maintenance and some storage. Another closet with yet another 4’ bi-fold door was added along the same wall leading to where we created a laundry room. A 2’-8” wide door to the laundry provides easy access even with a full load. The existing steps from the upper floor ended abruptly into the foundation wall with very little room.

Home Solutions Partners removed a tread and built a landing to address this inadequate situation. We added a third stair stringer to increase the strength of the new stair and replaced the rough wood treads with finished D-Select Pine treads. Angled rake walls were added & capped with 5/4” Select Oak. Oak Newel Posts and railings were installed with painted balusters on both sides of the stair ending into Oak Rosettes below the ceiling line. One continuous Oak railing ascended the left side.  Under the stair accommodates the Log Home’s water heater and water tank with adequate entry from either side via two 2’-4” x 6’-8” doors. All doors are wood grained six panel colonial painted as the colonial trim. Colonial casings and baseboards frame the doors and floors while the windows received drywall returns with 5/4” stools & aprons with returns. Home Solutions Partners finished off the transformation with a suspended acoustic ceiling with florescent lighting and carpeting shown with an 8’ x 8’ remnant in front of the patio door awaiting Derek’s return from the desert. This project was meticulously carried out for a satisfied client. What better way to say thank you for serving our country.
